Hi! I’m Shayna, a naturally curious wanderer, drawn to questions with no simple answers. I am a neuroscience graduate, with experience working in laboratory research during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. However, even before this, I have been interested in science since a young age – mixing chemical concoctions from soaps, perfumes and makeup in the bathroom, and reading heavy encyclopaedias under torchlight when I was meant to be asleep. This all led me down my scientific career. But something felt missing…
I have always had a passion for writing! Ever since I learnt to write and type on our chunky family computer, I’ve continued to hone my craft – from speculative fiction and poetry to blog posts and book reviews – it has become my greatest passion in life. Combined with my enthusiasm for making science accessible to everyone, I created this science journalism blog. Despite my neuroscience background, I am always open to learning about other fields such as astronomy and medicine. Therefore, rather than focusing solely on neuroscience news, I am branching out to science of all sorts.
